As we are building a unique, unified product offering from the merger of Contentsquare with our previous acquisitions, Hotjar and Heap, we have reorganized our Engineering & Product teams to align with our new challenges. Within the Core Technologies organization, the Data Infrastructure group holds a critical role and serves all other Product & Engineering organizations, with the key responsibility of processing and storing our customers' data (200K+ messages collected per second, 40+ billion page views processed per month, 5PB of data stored overall).

As the Senior Director, Head of Data Infrastructure, you will lead a group of 25 people composed of Data Engineers and undefined, spread across several offices and countries. You will report directly to the SVP of Core Technologies.

This position could be office based in Paris or Barcelona. Or, full remote from France, Spain & Germany.

Responsibilities

  • Vision & Roadmap:
  • Develop and drive a robust technical vision for the future of our stack, aligned with the company's business goals (OKRs) and product vision.
  • Define long-term strategy - including knowledge, development, and partnership plans for our key data technologies (e.g., Clickhouse, Flink, Kafka, Aerospike…).
  • Support and enable tech watch and new technology explorations. Question the status quo, sponsor team initiatives, and promote them.
  • Understand and challenge critical technical choices and directions (scalability, cost, evolvability…).
  • Management & Organization:
  • Enhance the organization and address organizational gaps in the context of ongoing mergers and reorganization. Anticipate future needs and challenges. Review and optimize team processes.
  • Support your managers in building, prioritizing, and smoothly delivering their roadmaps based on the technical vision and OKRs. Ensure a balance between short-term needs and long-term plans, and accurately prioritize across teams.
  • Align resource needs and staffing plans across and outside your organization.
  • Production & Operations:
  • Ensure production continuity of the data pipelines and database components under your responsibility.
  • Collaborate closely with Platform & Security teams to improve system reliability and resiliency through the right tools, guidelines, and organization (on-call, knowledge management, etc.).
  • Efficiently manage, track, and optimize operational costs for your organization.
  • Communication:
  • Communicate frequently with top management about team goals, achievements, and roadmap updates.
  • Foster strong relationships within the entire organization. Connect with Product & Business teams to anticipate future needs.
  • Regularly communicate within and outside Contentsquare about our vision, main technical challenges, and successes.
  • Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience managing software and data engineering teams.
  • Experience managing teams of 20+ people, including middle management.
  • A proven track record of successfully leading large, complex, and impactful projects (e.g., systems migrations, back-end architecture revamps).
  • Experience in data architectures (distributed computing, large DBMS) and high-paced environments preferred.
  • Strong program management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including with C-level executives.
  • Broad technical knowledge, a passion for technology, and familiarity with cutting-edge technologies.
