Governance Accessibility is one of Optimism’s key strategic Intents. Onboarding more governance participants will not only increase the resilience of the system but should improve decision making as a broader range of diverse perspectives participate.

The most common feedback we receive about our governance system is that although it’s innovative and thoughtful, it’s also hard to understand and navigate. The Governance Onboarding Lead will be responsible for taking a holistic approach to improving the accessibility of Optimism governance and onboarding new participants.

What are the role responsibilities?

  • Take a holistic approach to increasing the understandability of the Optimism governance system, determining how information should be presented, which platforms it should live on, and how members of the Collective should access and interact with it
  • Work cross-functionally with design, UI/UX, product, and external contributors to design and ship better governance interfaces
  • Establish scalable onboarding modules for all key stakeholders: contributors, delegates, Citizens, grant applicants, RetroPGF recipients, and OP Chains
  • Continuously liaise with OP Chains to ensure they understand how to participate in our governance system and utilize our DAO to scale their execution
  • Source key candidates and appointees for critical DAO positions, such as Council or Board members
  • Manage the nomination, election, and onboarding process for Councils and any other elected positions
  • Continuously educate the community as the governance system evolves by updating documentation, creating explanatory videos, hosting workshops, and/or any other effective means of education
  • Work with external stakeholders to promote Optimism Governance and manage public governance communications

What skills do you bring?

  • Familiarity with core components of blockchain infrastructure (etherscan, metamask, multi-sig wallets, dune dashboards, etc.)
  • A strong understanding of governance and experience working in DAOs
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively (In English)
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects from start-to-finish
  • Experience working with consumer-facing products or customers
  • Preference for candidates based outside the U.S. but not a requirement
