About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Research Scientist in machine learning with experience in causal inference to join the causality and biostatistics team to support the deployment and development of methodologies to drive target and biomarker discovery. You will join our fast-growing R&D Data Science team and will collaborate with Owkin’s scientists and external collaborators (academic researchers / pharmaceutical companies).

This is an opportunity to contribute to drug development and deliver new therapies to patients with cancer.

In particular, you will:

• • Advance research on causal machine learning applied to target identification and biomarker discovery. This includes developing novel theoretical insights research, coding to test benchmark new approaches and test the new approaches on multi-omics data.
  • Work closely with other members of Owkin’s R&D and medical teams with varied expertises (computational biologists, experts in medical imaging, federated learning, …) to share research insights and ensure that advanced research is aligned with R&D objectives.
  • Publish research results in different academic venues and communicate research results internally through regular project reports.

Position is based in our Paris office.

About you

Required qualifications / experience:

• Graduate (MSc) or PhD/Postdoc in Mathematics/Computer Science-related field (machine learning, applied mathematics). PhD or past experience working on causal inference is a plus.
• Proficiency in python and/or R with demonstrated knowledge in use and development of ML software packages.
• Work experience applying your knowledge in clinical research is a plus (e.g. in a pharmaceutical company or academic environment).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Fluent in English. Fluent in French is a plus.
• Passionate about the intersections of healthcare and AI.
• Authorization to work legally in France.
